Marjorie Taylor Greene and Conspiracy Theories

Unless you have been hiding under a rock or just straight up avoiding it, you will have heard about Marjorie Taylor Greene and her insane history of harassing school shooting victims, thinking 9/11 was an inside job, accusing RBG of having a body double, thinking the fires in California were caused by a Jewish Space Laser, and SO. MUCH. MORE.

As much as I hate to say it, she is not the craziest person in this country, but she is one of the craziest people currently serving in our nation’s capitol. This woman was elected and serves as Georgia’s 14th congressional district representative on November 3rd, 2020. She recently had old posts and videos resurface from 2018 and 2019 where she supported QANON conspiracy theories, pushed antisemetic rhetoric, encouraged islamaphobia, and generally was a racist, ignorant dumbass.

I say all of these things out of my own frustration and out of how blown away I am by the fact that she went totally unchecked and essentially walked into her elected position (74.7% of the vote) while holding these ludicrous beliefs.

Due to the resurfacing of her posts, she has been removed from her committee assignments (House Education and Labor Committee and Budget Committee) after a deliberation which she attended. She supposedly apologized, but this is the only thing she said that came close to taking any form of responsibility.

“The problem with that is though is I was allowed to believe things that weren’t true, and I would ask questions about them and talk about them, and that is absolutely what I regret,”

If you want a recap of the House voting to remove her/the opinions of lawmakers (both Republican and Democrat) click here.

In closing, please remember to research your representatives and anyone you might vote for. This woman coasted into her position and she is only validating all of the insane theories that Trumpet has been spouting for years.
