A New Chapter, A New Editor, and The Same Book

As I write this, Joe Biden was just sworn in as the 46th President of the United States of America.

Take a damn breath oh my gooooooooddddddd!

My Twitter feed changed itself back to light mode (I had it on night mode before the inauguration) and I’m not saying it’s a sign, but… it would be a crazy coincidence if it wasn’t.

Now, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are FAR from perfect, but it feels so good to have people leading our country that don’t totally hate everyone and everything that isn’t white Christian men. Kamala Harris is the first female, black, South Asian Vice President in our country’s history. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have given us a glimmer of hope in a time where only two weeks ago, our nation’s capitol was attacked by supporters of a man who only cares about his ego and image.

All of that being said, we will be keeping them accountable for their entire term and beyond. Like I said earlier, they are far from perfect people, and neither of them were my first picks for presidential candidates. If Trumpet has taught us anything, it is that fact-checking is an essential part of being informed. It is even more important that when you fact check, it is from a reliable source.

As much as we want to relax now that the inauguration ceremonies are over, this is not the time to sit back and tune out. Yes, there is a monumental amount of stress that has been taken off of our shoulders. There is also still so much work to be done.

Racism has not been ended. Homophobia is still present. Islamophobia still runs throughout our country. Antisemitism is passed down through families. These are only a few of the many fear based issues that run rampant through our country, even if you don’t see or experience them daily.

Now, I want to end on a good note because I do not get to do that often in this section. Here are the things the Biden-Harris administration has done so far, and what they have planned:
